Therefore surfaces as various incarnations from a pool of approaches and near misaims. Calculated yet improvisational, meditative and simultaneously anxiety-infused, the path may be straight, but full of self-placed obstacles. It is that sound between a lost past and an uncertain future. 6 years old, therefore continues to incorporate elements of punk, progressive economics, sonic graffiti, to analyze the production and distribution of goods and services of art/music and its various guises.
Stephen Ruiz (aka Zygote) combines the mechanized process of electronic music
production with the expression of complex human feelings to create
sound art. The tools of his output are computers, tape recorders, wires and
other conduits of noise.
Telephonepole is gunnar lockwood. Telephonepole is noise, beats, melodies,
automation, clipping, and mistakes. Telephonepole is for your own good.

Composer / Performer Tom McNalley has been active in the Portland and
Seattle areas for the past four years, working in new music and jazz
circles.
Adam Diller's compositions focus on creating structures for group interaction. As
an improviser he creates new musical territories by working in cooperative
ensembles. His improvising process provides spontaneous music with a sense
of structure.

Long standing San Diego quartet Return to One plays its last show for the time being.
The members are all moving to different states. They'll be playing recent
compositions to be recorded for a CD. Lee Elderton (woodwinds), Ward Baxter (woodwinds), Justin Grinnell (bass), Nathan Hubbard (percussion).

Two members of the acclaimed Seattle New Music Ensemble are staging a summer tour. Brad Hawkins, cello, and Jesse Canterbury, clarinet, will perform a concert of improvised, extemporaneous, and prepared music. On the program will be pieces from their new album (gotta push it), works by Bright Sheng and Forrest Pierce, pieces written and composed that very evening, and a revolutionary call and response performance activity. The UCSD Center for Research in Computing & the Arts (CRCA) will host a "Birds of a Feather" event presenting new media and digital arts researchers and their current projects.
